Our mixed wall art sets use a selection of natural fibres, all of which share the characteristics of growing quickly, sustainably and abundantly. Rattan grows in natural rainforests, and harvesting it helps to preserve these ecosystems; bamboo and raffia grow quickly and are already widely cultivated; while water hyacinth is an invasive species in Indonesia, overtaking many waterways, making its use an environmentally friendly choice.

When selecting our local production partners, we focus on fair pay, safe working conditions and reasonable working hours. We work exclusively with small family businesses with a maximum of 20 to 30 employees. They are all experienced craftsmen of legal age. Older people in particular, who can no longer work in agriculture, benefit from jobs in the craft sector, which allows them to use the skills they have learned from an early age to earn money and pass on traditional production methods to the younger generation. They have often told us how happy they are that they can create something meaningful with this work and earn a good income. Since all work steps are carried out by hand, the production process produces hardly any greenhouse gas emissions. We guarantee all this through regular site visits and continuous personal contact with the companies.

For our wall decoration pieces, the plant fibers are first cut and dried by skilled craftsmen at our production partners in the province of Central Java in Indonesia. Raffia is often twisted into cords. The fibers are then carefully woven by hand into the desired shapes. Making a five-piece wall decoration set takes about three hours in total.
